It had been two weeks. Two weeks of having Holland by my side, staying with me in Nenana and becoming a bigger part of my life each day. I was totally smitten, and my coyote had chosen his mate. The human side of me wanted that too, but it was a delicate balance I had to walk between putting what I wanted ahead of what was best for my pack.

It had also been two weeks since Mariah left. So, when I got a call and noticed the number, I answered right away. “Mariah? How are you?”

“Hi dad,” she said with a small giggle. “Did you even let it ring?”

“One time,” I said. “Where are you?”

“I’m…I’m in Fairbanks right now and I was wondering if you could meet me for dinner?”

“Tonight?”

I looked toward the front door of the house where Holland had just walked inside. She stomped her boots to get the snow out of them and hung up her jacket on the hook I’d purposely left empty for her. Her brown hair was matted in that cute way it always was after she’d worn a hat all day, and her cheeks were red with the chill of the winter air. She beamed at me when she saw me watching, raising her still-splinted hand in a small wave.

“Dad?”

“What? Oh yeah, sorry. Yes, I can meet you tonight.” Should I tell her about Holland? Should I introduce her? “Where?” I asked instead.

Mariah gave me the name of a restaurant in the main part of town and said she’d be there at seven. I hung up the phone and turned around just in time to catch Holland in my arms as she tried to sneak upstairs.

“Where do you think you’re going?” I asked while kissing her icy cheeks.

“Upstairs for a shower,” she said. “Like I always do once I strip out of my three thousand layers.”

“You’re still jealous about me not needing the snowsuit, aren’t you?”

She flicked me on the nose and then kissed it quickly. “Yes. I hate you and your warm shifter blood.”

“I knew it,” I teased.

Wiggling free of my grasp, she started to run up the stairs but then stopped and turned. “You know, you are more than welcomed to join me.”

I bounded up the steps three at a time, sweeping her up in my arms as I passed. “You don’t need to tell me twice,” I said.

By the time we reached my bedroom, that now had Holland’s suitcase and bags of science supplies lying in the corner, I’d removed her shirt and bra. As I set her on her feet, she giggled and sprinted into the bathroom to start the shower. I stripped out of my clothes faster than she could, so I ended up helping her remove her panties nice and slowly. As she kicked them free, she jumped into my arms and pressed her folds against my already hardened cock.

“Have you been waiting for me?” she teased.
